Polish pop artist IZA and Snoop Dogg have teamed up for a collaborative mixtape hosted by DJ Skee, entitled Flower In The Jungle. The release boasts 18 original tracks filled with catchy melodies and hard hitting lyrical prose, as well as production from Uncle Snoop with inspiration from his funk-inspired beats. 

 "Me and my girl IZA instantly connected," said Snoop. "When I heard her voice over one of my beats, I knew there was something special about her. NIKO IS brings us his first project of the year, GOOD BLOOD, a precursor to his long awaited BRUTUS LP. The title is the literal English translation of the Brazilian term, 'Sangue Bom'. Good Blood is mostly produced by Thanks Joey of The Prescription apart from a cut by Krikos and a self-produced NIKO IS record. Thanks Joey invokes the continuously evolving Brazilian sample-heavy style of hip hop production, for which he has become known for. The project will feature the rapgenius released 'Ballon d'Or', along with many other stand outs. The up and coming wordsmith is fresh off forging an alliance with industry veteran Talib Kweli and his Javotti Media imprint, alongside DJ Smallz and his Southern Smoke brand. With this sort of backing and a relentless ethic to get better with every release, 2014 will be nothing short of spectacular for the big haired Brazilian.

WHAT IS SELF SALOET? Self Saloet began as a ghetto bass initiative but quickly evolved to become a collective through which artists ranging from electronic music producers, photographers, graphic designers and filmmakers can establish a network for themselves. Self Saloet does this mainly through parties, events and music releases. Self Saloet prides itself on its non-exclusivity but also emphasises the need for quality in artistic output. Each artist on the compilation was invited to take part based on talent but also on a visible trend of quality in their musical output, and we partnered with 49 Others and ItsNotPhair based on the visible positive reactions each artist has received.

 #SELFSALOET: 1 came about by a fortunate turn of events, and quickly became the ideal opportunity to showcase Cape Town's often overlooked talent to the world. This is only the first of a series of compilations to be released.
